A real milestone in
the Galician Celtic music scene, Matto Congrio was formed
by some of the best young intrumentalists from Galicia.
This is the first band of new Galician Celtic international
star Carlos Nuñez. Carlos is best known for his constant
work with The Chieftains and collaborations with the likes
of Ry Cooder, The Who, Sinead O´Connor and many others.
From its original lineup, half went on to form the Carlos
Nuñez Band and the other half formed the new acclaimed
group Berrogüeto. Matto Congrio is certainly one of
the bands out of Galicia that has given alot to talk within
the field of Celtic Galician music. A band that counts with
some of the most virtuous musicians of this genre; some
of them have been heard through other groups and in particular
in the legendary recording "Instrumentos musicais populares
galegos", a real landmark in Galician music. This impressive
first recording of Matto Congrio was recorded in Dublin
and Madrid and includes collaborations of The Chieftains´
piper Paddy Moloney amongst others. There is no point in
talking about it, just listen to it...
