After his long carreer
as a musician in legendary bands like Al Tall or Terminal
Sur, the Valencian singer Miquel Gil has released his second
solo album “Orgànic”. He combines all
his anterior experiences from mediterranean music to ethnic
rock and invited excellent musicians and arrangers like
Toni Xuclà and Efren López to accompany his
particular and powerful voice.
Orgànic is a very personal and open-minded project.
Miquel Gil was inspired by poems from young poets from Valencia
like Ramon Guillem and set them to music on the base of
his wide experience of mediterranean sounds.
His music might be called “Canción de autor”
(singer-songwriter music) as the lyrics are as protagonic
as the music, or “folkmusic” because of Miquel´s
experience in outstanding Valencian folk groups. You can
even find “Cante Jondo” (the special vocal expression
of flamenco singing) if you focus on his playing with words
and his rhythmic work on lyrics, or “ethnic”/
“world” music, as it’s impossible to be
closer to one’s roots and more eclecticly universal
at the same time.
Independently on what aspect you might focus on, Orgànic
presents a unique mixture of the most interesting parts
of Spanish culture.
