This CD is a selection of songs recorded live (1998) in the Centro Artesà in the barrio Gracia in Barcelona and others recored later at the same place. Maria Laffitte is an authentic trovadora (bard) of the 20th (and 21st) century, who knows to set the traditional songs of Catalunya in a new light by her fantastic live performance and her profound understanding for the interpretation of these songs. Her magic voice is accompanied by the great guitar player, composer and arranger Lautaro Rosas.

Maria Laffitte was the voice of Els Trobadors and made herself to one of the protagonists of the Canción Tradicional Catalana. She interpreted the traditional songs of Catalunya on countless occasions and achieved to give these songs a modernized significance. When Maria Laffitte sings from love, earth or birds you feel her authentic devotion and conviction.

The song “El Poder del Canto” is about a singing prisoner who is able to irritate the flying birds and to capture the king so that he believes in the innocence of a man who knows to sing that beautiful. It´s almost impossible to find a better way to express the spiritual value of a song.
